Worth Watching: video briefs for YouTube · Last updated 28 October 2026
Worth Watching is a browser extension that lets you select YouTube videos and receive a short AI-written summary of each. This policy explains what data the extension handles. In short: the developer collects nothing. Your data stays in your browser, except for what is sent to Anthropic to produce a summary you asked for.
Data stored in your browser
- Your Anthropic API key, entered on the settings page.
- Your settings: chosen model and the languages you read.
- Summaries you generated: video ID, title, channel, length, publish date and the summary text, so the same video is not summarised twice.
This data is kept in the browser's local extension storage on your device. It is never sent to the developer. You can delete saved summaries from the settings page, and removing the extension deletes all of it.
Data sent to third parties
- YouTube (youtube.com): when you press “Summarise”, the extension requests each selected video's details and captions from YouTube, as the YouTube page itself does. No cookies or account information are sent with these requests.
- Anthropic (api.anthropic.com): the video's title, channel, length, transcript (or description if there are no captions) and your API key are sent to Anthropic's API to generate the summary. This happens only for videos you select. Anthropic's handling of this data is described in its privacy policy at anthropic.com/legal/privacy.
What the extension does not do
- It does not collect your browsing history, watch history, or any personal information.
- It does not use analytics, tracking or advertising.
- It does not sell or share data with anyone other than the services above, and only to provide the feature you requested.
